Utah has been a banned state for about a year now I think. Someone thought maybe when the system went through looking for 'Kentucky" residents recently, it caught some other players from restricted states that was overlooked previously. I'm not sure.

I'll chat with the Rewards people later today when they're in. It's almost midnight in Australia right now... but they'll be there in about 8 hours.

Unfortunately, it seems that these locks were done across the board by Microgaming. Not by the individual casinos themselves.

Look what I just got from one of my affiliate accounts:

Microgaming is going to put in an IP block for the 13 banned states in the US. This means that if a player logs on with an IP from any of these states they will not be able to enter the poker client.

This is happening for ALL Microgaming rooms, not just Eurolinx.com.

The banned states are:

1. Illinois
2. Indiana
3. Kentucky
4. Louisiana
5. Michigan
6. Nevada
7. New Jersey
8. New York
9. Oregon
10. South Dakota
11. Washington
12. Wisconsin
13. Utah

Things to note:

* This is not a new rule, just sudden enforcement of an old one.
* Players can still play in the Sportsbook.
* Players can still register from the banned states but will not be able to play in the Poker client or in the Casino.
* The IP blocking service Microgaming is using also has a proxy detector, so players will no longer be able to use a proxy to hide their IPs.

I hear ya Sarah. I was suprised it's gotten as far as it has. I didn't think it would ever really pose any problem. Most of the casinos on that list has changed their domain names to be .eu domains, or something like that.

I read on another site, that some players are getting locked out of Jackpot Factory casinos just because they live in "neighboring" states to Kentucky.

Ok guys.. here's the bad news.

I've heard that this is happening with all Microgaming Casinos, not just Jackpot Factory. That over the next week or two, if you're in a neighboring state of Kentucky, you're accounts will be temporarily locked until you provide proof of residence (showing you're NOT in Kentucky). The whole Kentucky thing is a big deal for the casinos and because ip addresses can sometimes show a slightly different location then where you actually are, they are putting temporary locks to try and abide by Kentucky's laws.

This whole thing really sucks. But please don't be mad at the casinos, as it's not their fault. They're doing what they have to, to abide by Kentucky's laws and avoid further complications in courts.

And if you're NOT in a banned state, you simply need to contact casino support and your accounts will be sorted out and reopened.

I'm sure we'll hear more of this in the coming week. So far i think Jackpot Factory is the only group that's done this.
