Watch Dog Sites
I'm sure that if you are reading this; you have heard of, or even visited a so-called watch dog site. Who are these watchdogs? How did they get to be watch dogs? Exactly what do they do? Lemme fill ya in...
Watch dog sites are simply put, a forum for bingo players. They are just like every other forum you have ever visited. They are a place for bingo players to go and share their experiences, gather information, debate various bingo topics, find a new site, etc. Just like every other forum.
So what makes a watch dog a watch dog? NOT A DAMNED thing! These people have decided to call themselves this with no certification, no criteria, no testing, no nothing! Anyone; and I DO mean anyone, can call themselves a watch dog! They go to various bingo sites and look to see if THEY THINK anything is fishy. Should you trust these guys anymore than you trust anyone else? NOPE! The only thing they have to offer you is their own experiences and a forum full of stories from other players. Same as any other forum! HEY! Same as right here at the Hodge!
I know I am starting to ramble here; but it just kinda pisses me off that these so called "watch dog" sites want you to believe they are better than other forums because they have put a title to what they do. Anyone who posts their experiences on a forum could essentially call themselves a watch dog. I just wanted to point out that I don't think you should put any more merit to a "watch dog site" than any other forum. If you are familiar with these sites; you already know that a couple of them can't be trusted at all! I am not saying they are all bad. I think they all started out with the best of intentions; but got caught up in their own beliefs and it went sour (for a couple of them) from there.
I think it's sad that these sites have become so enamored with themselves that they feel comfortable calling for a boycott on a major site with no evidence of any wrong doing except a list of Jackpot winners. This is all the evidence they can put forth, other than the opinions of regular players. I know that it is VERY hard to get undisputable proof that a bingo site cheats. I commend them for trying. I just don't think they have enough proof to slander a site in the manner that they do. We all know that we can't trust EVERYONE that posts a story; some people embellish the truth or don't tell you the entire story. Some people just bold -faced lie.
I think we were all born with a brain and we should use them and not rely on someone else to do our thinking for us. Sure, you should read other people's stories and garner any RELEVANT information they may contain. Yes, you should probably even visit these sites to keep abreast of what's happening in the bingo world. BUT, having said all of that...use your own judgment! Go with common sense! Just because someone has a title doesn't make them any smarter than you; especially if that title is self-imposed!
