www.freecycle.org/ (www.freecycle.org/) is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer. Membership is free.
Simply register to see what people like you are giving away. Got stuff you no longer need? Post it and offer it to someone who might need it!
This is a great program! It keeps a lot of stuff from going into our landfills and incinerators; therefore reducing pollution!
I have received many items from various people and I have to say; I was pleased with each and every item. On any given day, you can find everything under the sun.
